Tre S. Patrizz, 26, of Andover, was arrested after police received 911 calls about the shocking incident on Buckland Road in South Windsor around 6 p.m. on Monday, March 3, authorities said.

One call came from Patrizz himself, claiming his dog had jumped out of his vehicle while he was driving. But another caller painted a much different picture — saying they saw the dog being dragged and had to cut off Patrizz’s vehicle to force him to stop, South Windsor police said.

The gray pit bull suffered significant road rash to its underbelly and paws but is expected to make a full recovery with long-term care and pain management, police said.

After stopping, Patrizz took the injured dog to the New England Veterinary Center in Windsor, where officers later located and arrested him. When questioned by police, Patrizz said he forgot the dog was tethered to the vehicle.

Patrizz was processed and held on a $10,000 surety bond, police said.
